Dutch artist and designer Daan Roosegaarde created Waterlicht as he wanted to raise awareness of rising water levels and the need to continue to innovate and adapt to our changing environment. In the context of the steep sided Winnats Pass, the blue ‘waves’ of light also evoked post Ice Age floes carving out the valley form as well as today’s work with water conservation in the Peak District for the future.

While National Trust acted as host for this extraordinary project, it gave the small team the experience and impetus to work with artists again in 2019. See BE KINDER

Over 4 nights, over 25,000 people walked through the pass, closed to traffic.
